AWESOME !!!!!!!! Weekend

Well all I have to say is this weekend was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! First off Saturday, Meg and I had to go shopping for some supplies and groceries. We had to go to a Wally-Mart and a store named Sherpers. Sherpers is a store that has military clothes and other items from Boy Scout uniforms to Military gas masks, lots of outdoor items, camping items, etc. We wanted to go there because they have really good prices on hiking boots plus I saw a nice back pack for geocaching there. So we figured why not cache our way to Wally-Mart and then cache to Sherpers. We grabbed the GPSr’s and headed out the door. We had a list of 10 that we wanted to do. One was a puzzle cache that Meg figured out so we wanted to hit that one. We found 8 of our 10 and we were happy with that result. When we got home I logged all the caches and our 2 DNF’s, happy to have found the 8. Meg was happy with the new to us GPSr that we got. She was using a Lowrance I Finder h2oc, but for some reason it stopped working, we would have satellite bars but it just refused to lock on to them so I called their support desk and the guy stated that I could send it in but for 20 bucks more I could get a brand new Lowrance Endure. So I talked to my friend NoHandsgps because he told me he had a Garmin 60c he was thinking of getting rid of so we grabbed that for a really nice price. Meg now has a really good GPSr and is ready to go. She was able to use it like a pro; it was almost like they were built for each other. She loves it and wants to go caching as much as possible. Thanks to Nohands for the deal.

Update: the 2 caches we couldn’t find were muggled. We found this out after we logged them. The cache owners e-mailed us and said they did check and yes they were missing so we should watch the listing for when it is back up we can go out to grab them again.

Now it is Sunday and we have to go to Meg’s mom’s house to do some stuff up there. We decided to grab some caches on our way home. Saturday night I sat on the computer and looked at caches and found 21 and 1 puzzle cache that sounded like fun. I was thinking that if we find 15 out of the 21 then it would be a good day. Much to my surprise we found all 22 including the puzzle. Funny thing is Meg and I do finders tree, bush, pole or whatever is there, basically if one of us sees it we walk away and call out finder (fill in the blank). We then let the other keep looking until he or she finds it or gets frustrated and says ok hints then it becomes hot cold game until we both find it. The funny thing is whether it is Meg or I who find it, we get all excited and run away like little kids and call it out. What muggles must have thought of us seeing that going on lol. So we were happy and tired from doing 22 caches and had only one casualty. The casualty was our new to us palm pilot which we use for paperless caching. We don’t know exactly how or when but some time Meg put it into her coat pocket and then tied her coat around her waist. So some time from when she did that and hopping over logs and walking she bumped it just right because when we got to the car to log the caches we found into the palm, the screen was broken. That was about 7 caches in so we spent the rest of the day going blind no hints logs or anything. So, I made another phone call to another friend who I knew was getting rid of their palm and we grabbed that for a really good deal but that is another story.

Now it is Monday and I get a phone call from the Milwaukee County Parks guy telling me that our first cache is ok and gave us a permit and we are ready to go. We made up the cache page and went out to place the cache. At about 11:50 Monday night it got published. The GC number is GC28B1Y, this is our very first cache so we hope it goes good and people like it. Our stats have greatly improved and we are getting in a lot of exercise, according to our pedometer we walked 5 miles on Sunday. Meg is happy with her GPSr and I am happy to have a new palm pilot and we are EXCITED about our first cache getting published. Well, we will keep you updated on how the first cache does. Next weekend is the WGA campout, we are unable to attend but will be stopping down on Saturday for a bonfire and Sunday for the annual pancake breakfast. Happy trails, hope to see you out and about some time.
